We spent most of our time by the pool (see toddler, above), and as has been mentioned the beach is fine, but the water isn't that clear or good for swimming. A few times my husband and I enjoyed a cocktail at the Rotunda Bar before dinner - and those bartenders really know their stuff. There were plenty of choices for everyone to try, we certainly never went hungry! For lunch we took advantage of the waiters taking care of us poolside and ordered from the grill. Because we had a toddler in our group, we didn't try the restaurants that required reservations - we had breakfast and dinner at the buffet just about every night, except for the theme night we were worried about potential allergens (it was Asian night and one of us had a sesame allergy), so we had pizza then. We had the all inclusive package, so that was perfect for us. While our concierge told us at the beginning about different outside tour options, we ended up not leaving the resort at all. The staff were fantastic, and very friendly - everyone greeted us no matter where we went. We had a lovely family vacation at The Royal Haciendas - we had three generations there, and there was something for everyone at the resort.
